Have you ever struggled with finding a ride to the airport? Hate asking family and/or friends for a favor? As most people would suggest taking a rideshare service for convenience, but those services add up, especially if you're traveling with a family. Cutting cost before traveling in areas that isn't a necessity can help with saving money to go towards airport parking fees. I'm going to share 3 benefits of why you should consider on-site airport parking.
1. Save on cost
We usually travel with both of our girls car seats and double stroller. Getting a big enough Uber/Lyft for our family of 4, luggage, and assistive items would cost us a minimum of $60 each way. Our last airport parking fee was $60 for 4 days. Grant it, $15 per day adds up really quickly, so of course weigh your options before committing.
2. Convenience
With the recent flight cancelations/delays, having your car parked on site would allow you to come and go as you're pleased. Can you imagine taking a rideshare to the airport, only to not be able to board your flight because of a major delay or it gets canceled? Now you may have to spend extra money to get picked up or even rent a car to get to your destination. The stress of airport travel could make or break you.
Sometimes we take our chances with overpacking with hopes of not having to pay extra money for overweight bags. The convenience of parking our car at the airport gives us a piece of mind in case we have to leave behind the extra items in the car.
3. Travel at your pace
Given the convenience of not having to rely on a ride to the airport, allows us to leave 2 hours before a flight instead of 3, if we're going to the airport closest to our home. Grant it, leaving 2 hours before could be a little risky, certainly if you're traveling with small kids. We're still figuring it out, but we almost got it down packed. Let's just say Thank God for TSA Precheck!! Not having to wait in long lines for screening saved us from missing a couple of flights.
Ever landed from a flight and your ride was already waiting for you, but you hadn't gotten your luggage from baggage claim? Such an uncomfortable moment, knowing that they're doing you a favor by picking you up but have to wait around. I'm big on respecting folks time. I also hate feeling like I'm causing someone inconvenience, so instead of asking and/or paying for a ride, parking our vehicle at the airport gives us the freedom to travel at our own pace.
